Imagine if there were no pirates…

NetFlix will have to write their own subtitles…

Ubisoft will have to disable their annoying copy protection on their own…

They will also need to convert their own audio files…

Artists will have to be sought out for their music…

It will be a tragedy.

On the other hand:

Music sales will go up…

People everywhere will pay to watch TV shows…

Authors will be much more well known for their work…

And every form of media we wish to consume will be readily and easily available…

It will be a utopia. (Hint: No, it won’t).

I disagree with you on nearly every point… unless you were sarcastic :P

NetFlix will outsource their subtitle writing, and roll the price on the consumers.
Ubisoft will spend less on DRM and still charge same price.
They will not convert their own audio files… why would they bother?
Artists will be far less known, and their agents far richer.

    On the other hand:
Music sales will go down and show ticket prices will go up…
People everywhere will pay to watch TV shows… or stop watching.
Authors will be just as well known for their work…
And every form of media we wish to consume will be more expensive and less accesible.

      Yes, sarcasm was involved.
I just read that top link recently and spent a bit of time gathering all the other piracy related stupid.

And now, new info comes in that says that while blockbusters didn’t really suffer, overall box office revenue dropped around the world when MegaUpload was shutdown.
