המון אנשים מדברים על גוגל כמי שמנסים להשתלט על העולם. אני יודע. אני אחד מהם. אני אחד מאלה שטוענים שגוגל יכולים להשתלט על העולם כל עוד הם עושים את זה עם חיוך ושומרים על המוטו שלהם לא לעשות רע.
אבל עדיין, הייתם חושבים שגוגל, גם אם היא ענק תוכנה וחיפוש, לא כל כך חיונית למין האנושי ואפשר להסתדר גם בלעדיה. לפי מדענים בסין זה לא כך.
More than three-quarters of scientists in China use the search engine Google as a primary research tool and say their work would be significantly hampered if they were to lose it, a survey showed on Wednesday.
In the survey, 84 percent said losing Google would “somewhat or significantly” hamper their research and 78 percent said international collaborations would be affected.

I think they follow the code – their at a point that asking for money would devalue the currency by causing a certain amount of chaos
so it’s against their financial interest to “take over” – they will end up losing money
they might at some point use a donation system if they can no longer finance a service, but if they start closing doors hell and damnation will ensue
